Grass Breeding and Ecology Farm
The new Grass Breeding and Ecology Farm was completed in the fall of 2019. It includes 17 irrigated (80 x 80) plots, 2 irrigated ½ plots (40 x 80) and one 250 x 50 plot for turfgrass and specialty crop breeding, as well as a 5-acre dryland production area. The building consists of an office, heated shop and a barn area for seed cleaning and storage. Anna Hulbert and Jonathan Schnore manage the research facility.
Pullman Grass Research Sites
The program also operates multiple sites across the WSU Pullman campus for evaluating turf management techniques. Sites have been selected to mimic both conditions homeowners will experience and those of golf courses.
Mt Vernon NWREC Turf Evaluation Farm
The WSU Mount Vernon Turf Evaluation Farm was established at the Northwestern Washington Research & Extension Center (NWREC) in 2024 to serve the western portion of Washington State. This farm allows the program to evaluate new turfgrass varieties in conditions relevant to the area West of the Cascade.
